There’s a role quietly becoming the centre of gravity in software: not the coder, not quite the architect, but something closer to a product engineer. In this episode we look at why that shape is becoming so valuable.

We trace the old wall between product and engineering, why it made sense when building was slow, and what happens when AI collapses the cost of implementation — the bottleneck moves to deciding what should exist at all. That question lives right on the boundary the wall used to divide.

We’re careful not to oversell it: deep specialists who never want to talk to a customer stay enormously valuable. The point is that the product-minded engineer has gone from nice-to-have to one of the most valuable shapes a developer can take.
